2012 Nineteen Rogue
Nineteen Wetsuits launched their new top of the line suit, the Rogue, at Interbike in Las Vagas last month.

Pictures and more information are on the Nineteen Facebook page:

The wetsuit was first out of the water at the Wasaga Beach Olympic, and the next day at the Muskoka 70.3.. not bad for it's first two races.

Time to actually use this thing
The time has come for me to start adding some actual content here.

I've been working at Nineteen Wetsuits (www.nineteenwetsuits.com) since last November and the first fruits of my labour should be in Canada next week.

I've been working on a totally new design for the Nineteen Frequency; taking my years of experience into account in trying to design a wetsuit that is full of performance, durability, and without all kinds of silly 'marketing' features.

I'll start to post more information and updates about the design process.  I'll be able to do so from the new Nineteen website once it goes live.

Here at Kraftig.ca I've decided that it might be time to publish come meaningful content that is helpful for the many athletes I work with and interact with while coaching, training, and racing.

If you have any idea of topics or specific questions that you might like me to start with, by all means use the contact page to fire me your requests.

With luck, this is the start of something consistent.

Munich
Straight from Spain I got on a plane for Munich where my best friend and his family lives.  Only one hour delay due to volcanic ash, but I made it there in time.

Now a few days to relax with friends and family.  Just last night I went to Augistinerbrau to eat German food and drank over 1.0L of wheat beer.... wheat beer is good for you!

Spain Training Camp
After only being home from Japan for a few days I packed my new road bike and got on a plane for Barcelona.

For 10 days we rode in the mountains around Callea (an hour north of Barcelona, an hour south of Gerona).  With 32 athletes it was a big group but we had blast climbing up mountain passes that were over 21km in length.

This was my first trip to a Europe camp with NRG Performance Training, I'm excited to see where we'll go next year.

Japan
Just finished racing the 26th edition of Strongman Japan on Miyakojima a small sland of Japan, far south of the main country.

The island reminds me of Europe with the way cars, roads, and infrastructure is made, but it is crossed with botanical gardens.  The whole island is lush with thick green plants and trees with massive bright flowers of every colour.

It was a really great experience to race against athletes from that side of the world.  It is not very often that you get this kind of opportunity.

Test Sets and Headaches

For almost three full days I’ve been getting crazy headaches by mid day and I’ve been desperate for a coffee by the early afternoon.  On Wednesday I had an epic day of training and as soon as it was done it was straight to Starbucks.  I had two cups of coffee in the morning and couldn’t figure out my problem.

Yesterday (Thursday) I did a long swim “test-set” in the pool and my head felt like it was going to explode.  I couldn’t wait to get my goggles off, the added pressure around my head was killing me.  The hot bright sun, the pounding headache, the 100 yard repeats in the pool…. I was wondering what am I doing there.

When I got home yesterday after the big test set, I thought I would make my own coffee rather than splurge at Starbucks or Pannera Bread.  On Monday I had purchased, on a special “going out to buy new coffee” trip, “Pete’s Coffee” which someone tried to suggest to me is Lance’s favourite coffee.  I was in a bit of rush and bought the first bag of ‘ground’ house blend.  As I carefully studied the package yesterday to determine why this Lance-Armstrong-worthy coffee was yielding such powerful headaches, despite having multi-cup quantities in the morning, I noticed some fine print at the bottom of the label….. “decaf”….. Holy Moly… I can’t believe it.

Back to the store today to get some high-octane double caffeine coffee.
